If “MON” isindicated in the display as described in the preceding
section,the transmitter will turn on even if the channel is busy. When this
featureis disabled, the transmitter always keys, even if the channel is
busy.
Receive-Only and Talk-AroundChannels
Receive-onlychannels can be programmed in the conventional
mode by yoursystem operator to allow monitoring but not transmitting
on certainchannels. If the push-to-talk switch is pressed with a receive-
only channelselected, the intercept tone sounds and “TX DSBL” is
displayed.
Talk-aroundchannels (groups) can be programmed by your system
operatorto allow you to talk directly to another mobile without going
througha repeater(both Multi-Net and conventional calls normally go
througha repeater). This may permit communication when it would
otherwisenot be possible such as when you are out of range of the
repeaters.This feature is available on conventional systems only.
Call Guard Squelch
The CallGuard Squelch feature eliminates distracting calls intended
for othersusing the channel. This is done by using a subaudible tone or
digitalcode to control the squelch. This tone or code is unique to you or
your group on that channel.Call Guard squelch is a programmable
featureavailable in the conventional mode only. (The Multi-Net mode
uses ID codes to eliminatecalls intended for others.)
