Pserver Novell Netware software utility that manages the operation of
printers on the network.
RARP Reverse Address Resolution Protocol; a protocol used to
obtain the IP address of the server from a known network
address.
RCF Remote Console Facility; a protocol used in remote
connections between a port and a service on a remote
Ethernet device.
RPrint A UNIX program that takes data from standard input,
connects to a server, and transmits the data.
RPrinter Novell Netware remote printing protocol.
SLIP Serial Line IP; used to run an Internet protocol over serial
lines interconnecting two systems.
SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol; a protocol that allows
management information about an object to be inspected or
altered by SNMP management stations.
TBCP Tagged Binary Communications Protocol; a protocol used on
Hewlett-Packard printers.
TCP/IP Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol; a protocol
suite developed by the Advanced Research Projects Agency
(ARPA). TCP is the primary transport protocol and IP is the
network-layer protocol. TCP/IP is the standard protocol that
allows the different systems of the Internet to communicate
with each other.
TES A terminate-and-stay-resident terminal emulation program.
UTP Unshielded Twisted Pair; a transmission medium providing
connectivity on a network.
