Removing an XFP Module
ToremoveanXFPfromthemoduleport,referbacktoFigure 3‐1andproceedasfollows:
1. AttachtheantistaticwriststrapbeforeremovingtheXFPmodule.
2. RemoveanynetworkcableattachedtotheconnectorontheXFPmodule.Toremovea
connectorfromtheXFPport,graspthehandleandcarefullypulltheconnectoroutoftheport.
Itmayneedtobeloosenedbygentlymovingitfromsidetosidetoreleasethelatchingkeys.
3. BeforestoringorshippingtheXFPmodule,placeitintoastatic‐freecontainer.

configurationruleswheninstallingfirst(6x1xx),second(6x2xx),third(6x3xx),andfourth(7xxxxx)

FTM1 and FTM2 Connectivity
TheMatrixE7(6C107)chassishasbackplanesreferredtoasFT M1andFTM2. The7xxxxx
DFE‐DiamondmodulesuseFTM2forhighspeedcommunicationtoeachotherandoperateasone
switchingunitwithasingleIPaddress.Thetrafficthroughthesemodulesdoesnotconnectto
FTM1exceptthroughanFTMbridgingmodulesuchasthe7H4382‐25,7H4382‐49,or7H4383‐49
DFEmodule.

Caution: The XFP module and DFE module are sensitive to static discharges. Use an antistatic
wrist strap and observe all static precautions during this procedure. Failure to do so can result in
damage to the XFP module and DFE module. Always leave the XFP module in the antistatic bag or
an equivalent antistatic container when not installed.
