UnpacktheDFE‐Diamondmoduleasfollows:

1. OpentheboxandremovethepackingmaterialprotectingtheDFE‐Diamondmodule.

2. VerifythecontentsofthecartonaslistedinTable 3 ‐1.

3. Removethetapesealonthenon‐conductivebagtoremovetheDFE‐Diamondmodule.

4. PerformavisualinspectionoftheDFE‐Diamondmoduleforanysignsofphysicaldamage.

Installing an Optional XFP Module

ThissectiondescribeshowtoinstallanXFPmodule.FortheXFPspecifications,referto

Appendix A.

ToprepareandinstallanXFPmodule,proceedasfollows:

1. BeforeremovinganXFPfromtheanti‐staticpackaging,itisrecommendedthatyouusean

antistaticwriststrap(notsupplied)topreventdamagefromstaticdischarge.Tousethewrist

strap,refertotheinstructionsprovidedwithyourantistaticwriststrap.

2. RemovetheXFPfromitspackaging.

ToinstallanXFPmodule,refertoFigure 3‐1andproceedasfollows:

1. HoldtheXFPsothattheconnectorwillseatproperly.

2. CarefullyaligntheXFPwiththemoduleportslot.

3. PushtheXFPintothe7KR4297‐02or7KR4297‐04portslotuntilthebackoftheXFPmodule

faceplateisflushagainstthe7KR4297‐02or7KR4297‐04frontpanel.

4. Closethereleasehandle.

Caution: Carefully follow the instructions in this manual to avoid damaging the XFP module and

DFE module.

The XFP module and DFE module are sensitive to static discharges. Use an antistatic wrist strap

and observe all static precautions during this procedure. Failure to do so could result in damage to

the XFP module and DFE module. Always leave the XFP module in the antistatic bag or an

equivalent antistatic container when not installed.

Precaución: Siga las instrucciones del manual para no dañar el XFP ni el módulo, puesto que son

muy sensible a las descargas de electricidad estática. Utilice la pulsera antiestática y tome todas

las precauciones necesarias durante este procedimiento. Si no lo hace, podría dañar el XFP ni el

módulo. Mientras no esté instalado, mantenga el XFP en su bolsa antiestática o en cualquier otro

recipiente antiestático.
