To display the current CPU speed, type ES P EED only and press Enter. You see the following:

<+> : Speed Up

20.0MHz <-> : Speed Down <Esc> : Exit

To change the speed when you see this display, press the + or - key; then press Esc to exit.

The processor speed you set remains in effect until you change it using the ESPEED program again, a keyboard command, or the SETUP program; or until you press the RESET button or turn off the computer.

Entering the ESPEED command In a batch file

You may want to run the ESPEED program by including the command in a batch file. For example, if you have a program called SLOWDOWN which requires a slower processor speed, you could include the following commands in a batch file to start the SLOWDOWN program:

ESPEED L

SLOWDOWN

You could name the batch file SLOW.BAT. Whenever you need to run the SLOWDOWN program, insert the program diskette in drive A. Then type SLOW and press Enter. The computer changes the speed to low and starts the SLOWDOWN program.

See your MS-DOS manuals for instructions on creating and using batch files.
