Setting the Boot Options

When you select Boot Options from the Main Menu, you see the boot Options screen, which contains the options described below.

Selecting the drive boot sequence

The Disk drive boot sequence option determines the order in which the computer checks the drives when it looks for the operating system.

If you select A: then C:, each time you turn on the computer, it first tries to load the operating system from drive A. If drive A doesn’t contain an operating system, the computer loads it from drive C. If you select C : then A : , the computer tries to load the operating system from drive C first. If drive C doesn’t contain an operating system, the computer tries to load it from drive A. If you select C : only, the computer tries to load the operating system from drive C only.

Setting the floppy seek optionIf you set the Disk drive boot sequence option to

C:only, you can disable the Floppy seek option so the system does not try to access the diskette drive at startup. Disabling the Floppy seek option decreases the time needed to boot the system.

Disabling the-SETUP prompt

The Display SETUP prompt during POST option allows you to disable the message Preen <F2> to enter SETUP that you see during power-on diagnostics. You may want to disable this prompt to prevent unauthorized users from seeing the SETUP prompt. Even when the message is disabled, however, you can still start SETUP by pressing F2 within the allowed amount of time.
