5Locate the modem port or printer port on the back of your Macintosh, marked with these icons:

7Turn on the camera and your Macintosh. A frame appears around the picture counter on the camera’s control panel.

6With the arrow on the cable facing up, line up the cable connector with the port on your Macintosh. Then insert the connector.

Line indicates that the camera is connected to your Macintosh.

NOTE

When the camera is connected to your Macintosh, you can’t use any of the control buttons or the shutter button on the camera. You can operate the camera only through your Macintosh.

The camera’s auto shut-off feature remains in effect when the camera is connected to your Macintosh, but shut-off takes place after 5 minutes of inactivity instead of 60 seconds. To turn the camera back on, you can slide the power switch off and on again, or you can use any of the software camera controls on your Macintosh, as explained in Chapter 5.
