3.6Managing Backups

Once the users have used DiskSafe Express to back up their computer hard disks to the storage system, clicking on the “Backups” button in the menu will open the Backups Page (Figure 3-17) which displays a list of each computer that has performed a backup, the size of each protected disk, the date and time of the last four backups, and the backup disk ID (the number used to identify the backup on both the storage system and on the Status page in DiskSafe Express).

When the user first performs a backup, the user must enter a password which is used to perform a recovery of the backup. If the user forgets the password, it can be changed on the page. When a user removes protection for a disk, the existing backups are not deleted. The user can re-use the allocated space for new backups, or the backups can be deleted manually using the Backups page.
