Correcting the Orientation of Scanned Images
In an office environment, it is often the case that a single batch contains same size documents
of different page orientations. Moreover, the reverse sides of double-sided documents in
calendar style are printed upside down.
The ScanSnap is able to automatically rotate each page to its correct orientation for such
document batches.
To rotate document pages to their correct orientations, change the settings by following the
procedure below.
1. Select [Settings] from the ScanSnap Manager menu.
Refer to "ScanSnap Manager Menu" (page 170) for more information about the
ScanSnap Manager menu.
DThe ScanSnap setup window appears.
This function determines document orientation based on the characters printed on the

ters are overlapped
zDocuments with many characters contacting underlines or borders

zDocuments with characters on an unevenly colored background
e.g. Shaded characters
zDocuments with many decorated characters
e.g. Decorated characters (embossed/outlined)
zDocuments with characters on a patterned background
e.g. Characters overlapping illustrations and diagrams
zDocuments with characters printed in various directions such as drawings
zDocuments written using only capital characters
zDocuments including handwritten characters
zSkewed documents
zDocuments written in an unsupported language (a language other than English/French/
German/Italian/Spanish/Russian/Portuguese)
