After the fire is burningand the feed rate is adjusted, you can nowset the thermostatto the desired temperature.

MAINTENANCE

With eachhopperof coalthat isburnedapproximatelyone ashpan fullofashesmust be removed.Failure to removethe ashes willresult in a blocked up grate and the fire willnot burn properly.

Remember, the ashpan willbe hot,so always wearprotective gloves.

Weekly:

The smalltray in the side of the stoker should be removed and emptied.

The springhandle located at the rear of the flue-pipe should be cycled in and outseveraltimes.This action cleans the interior ofthe heatexchanger and causes thedust to fallinto the ashpan.

Every3Months:

The grate "clean-out"slide should beopened and reclosed as shownindrawingsatleft.

In the "closed"position, besure the "grate clean-out" plateslide is straightacross as shown.

Theeasiestway to handle this slideis through theash doorwith a poker inserted into the hole at the end.

The purpose of this operation is to let any fly ash build-upunder thegrate fallinto theashpan.

This operation can beperformedwhile theunit isburning. However,you should first lowerthe thermostat tolowerthe stove temperatureand besure you are wearingprotective gloves.
