ELECTRICAL Battery Service
Your lawn tractor charging system charges the battery while the
engine is running. However, if the lawn tractor is only used
periodically, the battery must be charged monthly to maintain the
battery service life.
A lead-acid battery self-discharges at a rate of 0.5 - 1 .O % per day. If
the lawn tractor is not operated for a month, the battery can discharge
as much as 30%. This could cause the engine not to start or shorten
the service life of the battery.
The battery contains sulfuric acid
(electrolyte) which is highly corrosive
and poisonous.
Getting electrolyte in your eyes or on
your skin can cause serious burns.
Wear protective clothing and eye
protection when working near the
batterv.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
Eyes - Flush with water from a cup or other container for at least 15
minutes (water under pressure can damage the eye). Immediately call
a physician, local poison control, or 911.
Skin - Remove contaminated clothing. Flush the skin with large
quantities of water. Call a physician immediately.
Swallowing - Drink water or milk. Call your local poison control or a
physician immediately.
