Pressing Start Color dials the number, then sends the fax as the pages are scanned. After a page has been scanned, the front panel prompts you to scan another page. To fax another page, press 1 (yes), otherwise press 2 (no). If you press 1, you will be prompted to load the original. Press Enter when prompted, after you have placed the original on the glass.
Depending on how you set up your HP PSC, you can receive faxes automatically or manually.

Before manually receiving a fax to your HP PSC, we recommend that you remove any originals from the glass, so they are not accidentally processed.
1Press Setup.
2Press 3, then press 3 again.
This selects Basic Fax Setup, then selects Rings to Answer.
3Press until No Answer appears on the front panel display.
4Press Enter to accept the setting.
To receive a fax manually
1When your HP PSC rings, pick up the handset of a telephone that is on the same telephone line as your HP PSC, (the handset is plugged into the back of the HP PSC).
2Press Fax, if not already lit.
3If you hear fax tones, do one of the following:
–Press Start Black or Start Color.
–If you are receiving from an extension phone (on the same telephone line as your HP PSC, but not connected directly to it), press 1 2 3 on your phone.
4Wait for the fax tones, then hang up the telephone.
You can specify how many rings should occur before your HP PSC automatically answers the phone. (The default is 6 rings.)
If you do not want your HP PSC to answer the phone, Rings to Answer should be set to No Answer.
