Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the Hard Drive:
1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first disconnecting the power cord from the AC outlet and then disconnecting the AC adapter from the computer.
4.Remove the battery (see “Battery” on page
Remove the Hard Drive:
1.Position the computer with the front toward you.
2.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screws 1 that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.
3.Lift the left side 2 of the hard drive cover, swing it to the right, and remove the cover 3. The hard drive cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part number
4.Remove the three Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws 1 that secure the hard drive to the computer.
5.Use the Mylar tab 2 on the hard drive to slide the hard drive 3 to the left.
6.Remove the hard drive 4 from the hard drive bay.
