EVM Support for Volume Groups and HP Tru64 UNIX AdvFS Domains

If you enter Q, the script exits. If you enter C, the system displays a menu similar to the following:

To create a mapfile for a volume group, please select the volume group from the list below.

1)/dev/vg00

2)/dev/vg01

3)/dev/vg02

Enter Selection (A for ALL, Q for QUIT):

If you enter Q, the script exits. If you enter A, the system attempts to process all of the volume groups listed in the menu. You may also select one of the items listed by entering its number. When you enter an item number, the system processes only that selection. After processing the selection, the system redisplays the menu. This occurs until you select Q.

If you enter A, the script exits after all of the volume groups in the menu are processed.

NOTE: If you attempt to generate a mapfile for the root volume group (default name vg00), the system does not allow you to do so. You get the warning message, “Could not create mapfiles for all Volume Groups.”

This warning message is also issued for other volume groups if, for any reason, the system cannot process the volume group and generate a mapfile.

In the example above, if you enter A, the output will look similar to the following:

The warning message displays only if a volume group cannot be processed. A file is created in the VGmaps directory (/opt/CPQevm/bin/VGmaps) called failed_map_list, which contains a list of all failed volume groups. The logfile that gets created is in the logs directory and is called generate_mapfiles.logfile.

The mapfile itself is created in the VGmaps directory; its name is in the format mapfile._vgname.
