Node Visibility to the Management Appliance

Each EVM network is limited only by the Management Appliance visibility of SAN nodes. If a host computer is visible to the Management Appliance, the host storage is displayed on the EVM GUI and can be added to the EVM network.

Storage System Limitation

Keep these storage system limitations in mind when planning your EVM network:

EVM V2.0D can simultaneously support up to 25 HSG-based storage systems and up to 16 HSV-based storage systems. However, as the number of storage systems increases, EVM job performance and user interface responsiveness can degrade.

Actual performance depends on several factors, including the number of jobs running, the number of steps and complexity of the jobs, and I/O activity on the storage systems and hosts.

EVM is compatible only with multibus configurations.

NOTE: Changing from a transparent to multibus failover configuration is not just a matter of issuing CLI commands, but also involves installing hardware and possibly software, such as host bus adapters, cabling, switches, and HP Secure Path.

EVM V2.0D must have the appropriate version of HP Secure Path software installed on the host. Refer to Table 5–6 through Table 5–11, beginning on page 5–6 for version information.
