NOTE:TheGetUUpliftcanbeusedasanaidtoliftapersonfromaseatedtoastandingposition.
Aminimumoftwocaregiversisrequiredforthisprocedure.
NOTE:Invacarerecommendsthattwoassistantsbeusedforallliftingpreparationand
transferringto/fromprocedures;however,ourequipmentwillpermitproperoperationbyone
assistant.Theuseofoneassistantisbasedontheevaluationofthehealthcareprofessionalforeach
individualcase.

Standing Procedure

1. Ensurethatthepatientiscapableofwalking.
2. Foldthefootplatetowardthemast.
3. Usetheadjustmentpinstomovethekneepadtoacomfortableposition.
4. Ensurethatthepatientisinasittingpositiontobegintheprocedure.
A. Ifthepatientisinbedandrequiresassistancetocometoasittingposition,raisethe
backofthebed.
B. Placetheliftoverthebedwiththeliftarmsangledtowardthepatient.
C. Instructthepatienttograsptheliftarms.
D. Astheliftarmsareraised,thepatientshouldmovelegstothesideofthebeduntil
asittingpositiononthesideofthebedisassumed.
NOTE:Thecaregiversshouldassistasneeded.
E. Pulltheliftawayasneededtoaccommodatethepatient’sfeetandlegsoverthe
sideofthebed.
5. Withonecaregiveroneachsideofthepatient,placeagaitbeltonthepatient.
6. Ensurethatthepatientiswearingshoeswithskidproofsoles.
7. Ifthepatientisonthebed,raisethebed(ifpossible)whileensuringthatthepatient’s
feetremainonthefloor.
8. Ifawalkeristobeused,placethewalke rinfrontofthepatient.
9. Advancethelifttowardthepatientsothatthepatientcaneasilyreachtheliftarms.
10. Instructthepatienttograsptheliftarms.
11. Ensurethatthepatient’sfeetaredirectlyunderthem.
12. Beginraisingtheliftarms.
13. Onacountofthree,instructthepatienttopullandstandupwhilethecaregivers
supportwiththegaitbelt.
