Verification of Battery Free Power Loss Alarm

CheckthePerfecto2concentratorforproperoperatingconditions.
1. Iftheunithasbeeninbelowfreezingtemperatures,allowittowarmuptoroom
temperaturebeforeoperating.
2. Theconcentratormayneedtobeturnedonforfourtofivesecondstochargethe
BatteryFreePowerLossAlarm.Connectpowercordtooutletandturnthe
concentratoron.Turn flowcontrolknobcounterclockwiseandflowwillbegin
IMMEDIATELY.SetflowratetofiveL/min.Lettheunitrunfor30minutes,thenturn
unitoff.
3. UnplugthepowercordandpressOn/Off()switchtotheOn()position.An
intermittentaudiblealarmwillsound.ThisconfirmsproperoperationoftheBattery
FreePowerLossAlarm.Tur nOn/OffswitchOff().
4. Connectpowercordtooutletandturnonconcentrator.Unitwillbeeponstartup.
5. Checktheoxygenconcentrationperspecificationsafter3040minutesrunningtime.

Sequence of Operation

TurningOn()thepowerswitchapplies120VACtothecompressormotor,hourmeter,
transformer,coolingfanandtheprintedcircuit(P.C.)board.
Roomairentersthecompressorviathecabinetfilterandthecompressorinletfilter.The
airiscompressedbythewobblepistonsinthecompressortoapressureof21p.s.i.(144.79
kPa).
Asincreasedpressurecreatesincreasedtemperature,aheatexchangerisusedtolower
thetemperaturebeforetheairentersthe4wayvalve.Itisthenchanneledtoasievebed
containingtheadsorptionmaterial.Restrictiondownstreamofthesievebedcauses
pressuretobuildupinsidethesievebedwhichisnecessaryfortheadsorptionprocess.A
smallamountofrelativelypureoxygenentersthetopofthesecondbedthrougha
restrictiveleakinthepressureequalization(P.E.)valvewiththebalanceenteringa
storagetank.Thenitrogenremovedisexhaustedbackfromthebedthroughthe4way
valveintoroomair.Amufflerislocatedattheexhaustendofthevalvetomufflethe
soundoftheexhaustasitexitstheconcentrator.
Theoxygennotbeingusedtoexhaustischanneledintothestoragetank.Thepressurized
oxygenisregulateddowntofivep.s.i.(34.4kPa),entersanaccurateflowmeasuring
device,flowsthroughOutletHEPAfilterandcheckvalve,thenouttothepatient.
