Playing Back a Tape

You can play back type I tapes.

1 Push ) (PUSH OPEN).

The cassette holder opens.

2 Put a cassette in with the exposed part of the tape down.

3 Push ) (PUSH OPEN) gently to close the cassette holder.

When the unit is turned on, the TAPE indicator appears on the display.

4 Press TAPE 2 3.

Playback starts (if the unit is in standby, the unit automatically turns on).

To change the tape direction, press TAPE 2 3.

Each time you press the button, the tape direction changes as follows:

:Plays the front side (left to right).

:Plays the reverse side (right to left).

When the tape plays to the end, the deck automatically

stops if the reverse mode is set to or . (See “To play both sides—Reverse mode” on the right column.)

To stop during play, press 7.

To fast-wind to the left, press 4.

To fast-wind to the right, press ¢.

To remove the cassette, push ) (PUSH OPEN).

The TAPE indicator goes off.

DO NOT push ) (PUSH OPEN) during tape play.

To play both sides—Reverse mode

You can set the deck to play just one side or both sides of a tape once, or both sides continuously.

Press REV. MODE.

Each time you press the button, the reverse mode changes as follows:

: Plays back only one side (front or reverse).

: Plays back the front and reverse sides once.

: Plays back both front and reverse sides continuously.

• The use of the C-120 or thinner tape is not recommended, since characteristic deterioration may occur and this tape easily jams in the pinch rollers and the capstans.

You can also play back type II and type IV tapes; however, the sound quality (tone) may not be reproduced properly.
