Super VHS (S-VHS), S-VHS ET and VHS

Your VCR can record in S-VHS, S-VHS ET or VHS.

To record in S-VHS:

Perform the steps below to set S-VHSto ON. Then, insert a cassette marked ‘S-VHS’, the S-VHS indicator will light on the display panel. The S-VHS recording mode will be selected.

To record in S-VHS ET on a VHS cassette:

See ‘Super VHS ET (S-VHS ET)’ on page 34.

To record in VHS:

Insert a cassette marked ‘VHS’. If the S-VHS ET indicator on the VCR is lit and the S-VHS ET mode is activated, press S-VHS ET. The indicator goes off. The VHS recording mode will be automatically selected regardless of the S-VHS mode setting.

To record in VHS on an S-VHS cassette:

Insert the cassette marked ‘S-VHS’, the S-VHS indicator will light on the display panel. Then, perform the steps below to set the S-VHSto OFF; the S-VHS indicator will go out. The VHS recording mode will be selected.

get to the mode set screen Press m. Move the highlight bar to MODE SET using the Aand Bbuttons and press O(or E).

select s-vhs mode Move the highlight bar to S-VHSusing the Aand Bbuttons. Press

O(or E) to set to ON or OFF.

return to normal screen Press m.

NOTE:

When playing back a tape that has been recorded in S-VHS or S-VHS ET, the S-VHS indicator lights on the display panel regardless of the ‘S-VHS’ mode setting.
