Locking the exposure and/or focus setting

Recording modes: AF lock only

The Lock function is convenient for achieving perfect exposure and focusing based on the most important part of a subject.

For example, if you wish to position it anywhere in the frame, and also in the case of large brightness differences.

If an important subject detail is to be positioned off-center: Lock exposure (AE) and focus (AF)

If the main subject is comparatively small and the rest of the frame is significantly brighter or darker: Lock exposure (AE)

Preparation:

To utilize the AF/AE Lock function, it is necessary to register it to the [FN] button. (→117)

Aim the AF area at the subject

Press the [FN] button to lock focus and/or exposure

••To cancel AF/AE Lock: Press the [FN] button

Move the camera for the desired composition, and then press the shutter button fully

••When AE is set, press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it fully.
