To detach your computer from the ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3, do the following:

•If your computer is operating, make sure that it has finished operations involving devices that are connected to the USB connector. Also make sure that any connection to an Ethernet is stopped.

Security feature

The ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3, the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3, or the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 has a security keyhole for a mechanical lock. By attaching a mechanical lock with cable there, you can secure the ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3, the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3, or the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 to a heavy object, such as a desk.

If you use the ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3, and attach a mechanical lock with the eject button locked, the computer cannot be detached from the ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3.
