Installing the LSI8751D

This chapter provides instructions on how to install the LSI8751D and includes these topics:

2.1Quick Installation Procedure

This section provides quick setup instructions for the experienced computer user with prior host adapter installation and SCSI bus setup experience. If you prefer more detailed guidance for installing the LSI8751D, please follow the instructions in Section 2.2, “Detailed Installation Procedure.”

For safe and proper installation, check the user’s manual supplied with your computer and perform the following steps.

Step 1. Ground yourself before handling this host adapter board, then remove the cabinet cover on your computer to access the PCI slots.

Note: The use of a static ground strap is recommended.

Step 2. Remove the LSI8751D from the packing and check that it is not damaged.

Step 3. Turn off and unplug your system.

Step 4. Open your PC cabinet.

Step 5. Locate the slots for installing a PCI plug-in board.

Step 6. Insert the LSI8751D board into the selected PCI slot.
