EFFECTSEffects are devices that alter a n audio
signal. These alterations can ra nge
from subtle to extreme and can be
a great source of creative fun within
Torq.
Each Deck can be processed
individually with multiple ef fects, and
that is the purpose of the Effect R acks.
The Effect Racks are located be tween
each Deck and the Mixer and will
house up to three effects from Torq’s
built-in library as well as one ext ernal
VST effect. This means you ca n be
using up to eight effects with in your
mix at the
same time.
Controls
The controls for the built-in and extern al VST effects are basically the s ame and will be
described here. The VST effect s have some additional controls and consideration s of
which to be aware, and these will be covered in the nex t chapter.
Effect Slot
To begin using effects, you need to select an ef fect for use in one of the Effect
Slots. Each slot can hold one effe ct which you’ll choose from a list:
1. Click on an empty Effect Slot . A pop-up list of available effe cts will appear.
2. Click on one of the effect names from th e list to load it into the slot.
When loaded, an icon will appear in the E ffect Slot representing which
effect is
in use.
3. To remove an effect, choose the “blank” effect at the top of the pop-up list.
Enable Button
Before you can use an effect, you mus t turn it on, and that’s the purpose of the
Enable button. By default , this button will be off whenever you load a new ef fect.
This allows you to set the effect the way you desi re before you use it in your mix.
✓ Note: Some of the effects don’t util ize the Enable button and will functio n in a
different way (which is outline d in the various effect sections la ter in this manual).
