1.3 Ideal Applications

There are basically two types of wireless networks: Infrastructure and Ad-hoc. An Infrastructure network uses one or more access points (such as the Macsense XRouter Aero, or Apple AirPort Base Station) as a gateway, linking the wireless network to a wired LAN. As a result, computers on your wireless network have access to all the features of your wired LAN including email, Internet access, network printers and file servers.
