“Width” and “Length”
Whenever paper dimensions are
mentioned in this manual, the first value
always refers to the width of the paper
(shown as “Y” in the illustration) a nd the
second to the length (shown as “X”).
Paper Orientation
Lengthwise ( )
If the width (Y) of the paper is shorter
than the length (X), the paper has a
vertical or portrait orientation, indi ca ted
by either “L” or .
Crosswise ( )
If the width (Y) of the paper is longer
than the length (X), the paper has a
horizontal or landscape orientation,
indicated by either “C” or .
Portrait and Landscape
Portrait
With the “portrait” orientation, t he paper
is vertical, like a portrait.
Landscape
With the “landscape” orientation, the
paper is horizontal, like a landscape.
