Making Emergency Calls in Direct TalkSM Mode

Emergency phone calls can be made in Direct Talk mode as long as you are within a Nextel coverage area.

Dial 911 to be connected to an emergency response center. If you are on an active Direct Talk call, you must end it before calling 911.

Setup Options

Direct Talk setup options are available in the DT Options screen in both network and Direct Talk modes.

To access Setup Options in network:

1From the main menu, select DirecTalk.

2Select Setup.

To access Setup Options in Direct Talk:

1From the main menu, select DT Options.

2Select Setup.

You can set your phone to:

•Launch directly into Direct Talk when you select DirecTalk from the main menu.

•Notify you periodically with a tone that you are in Direct Talk.

Using Direct Launch

To set your phone to launch into Direct Talk when you select DirecTalk from the main menu:

1From the setup screen, scroll to Direct Launch and press A under Change.

2Select On.

Note: If Direct Launch is set to On, you will not see DT Options when you select DirecTalk from the main menu. In order to have access to your setup options, Direct Launch must be set to Off. Or you can

access setup options while in Direct Talk mode by pressing m and selecting DT

Options.

To turn off Direct Launch:

1From the setup screen, scroll to Direct Launch and press A under Change.

2Select Off.

Your phone now displays DT Options when you select DirecTalk from the main menu.
