Set Lengths for Codabar
The length of a code refers to the number of characters (i.e., hu man readable characters), including check digit(s)
the code contains. Set lengths for Codabar for any length, one or two discrete lengths, or lengths within a specific
range.
One Discrete Length - Select this option to decode only Codabar symbols con taining a selected length. Select the
length from the numeric bar codes in Appendix D, Numeric Bar Codes. For example, to decode only Codabar
symbols with 14 characters, scan Codabar - One Discrete Length, then scan 1 followed by 4. To correct an error
or change a selection, scan Cancel on page D-3.
Codabar - One Discrete Length
Two Discrete Lengths - Select this option to decode only Codabar symbols c o n ta i n i n g e i t h e r o f t w o s e l e c t e d
lengths. Select the lengths from the numeric ba r codes in Appendix D, Numeric Bar Codes. For example, to
decode only those Codabar symbols containing either 2 or 14 ch aracters, select Codabar - Two Discre t e
Lengths, then scan 0, 2, 1, and then 4. To correct an error or change a selection, sc an Cancel on page D-3.
Codabar - Two Discrete Lengths
Length Within Range - Select this option to decode a Codabar symbol with a specific length range. Select
the length range from the numeric bar codes in Appendix D, Numeric Bar Codes. For example, to decode
Codabar symbols containing between 4 and 12 characters, first scan Codabar - Length Within Range. Then
scan 0, 4, 1, and 2 (include a leading zero for single digit numbers). To correct an error or change a sele ction, scan
Cancel on page D-3.
Codabar - Length Within Range
Any Length - Scan this option to decode Codabar symbols containing any number o f characters within the
scanner’s capability.
