BCommon Questions
This appendix addresses common questions you may havew hile using
your SCXI-119Xswitching module.
TheSCXI-1190 is listed to have a 1.3 GHz bandwidth. Can I use it at
2 GHz bandwidth?
The SCXI-1190 can definitely be used at 2 GHz, as long as the isolation,
VSWR,and attenuation levels are acceptable for your particular
application.Refer to Appendix A,Specifications, for a complete list of the
parameters at 2 GHz.
Whatshould I do if the software detects the module but the switches do
not switch?
•Verifythat the switches do not switch by trying to close and open the
switches. You can verify the switches functionality by using the
NI-SWITCH Soft Front Panel.
•Alsobe sure to check the return codes of the NI-SWITCH operation to
ensurethat there are no errors (negativevalue) or warnings (positive
value).
•Finally, verify that your code is correct. For reference, see the
examplesdescribed in the NI-SWITCH Software User Manual.
The NI-SWITCH driverships with several examples in source code.
Compareyour algorithm to those in the examples.
DoI needto program the switch module myself?
The SCXI-119Xcomes with the NI-SWITCH driversoftware, which
exportsthe full function ality of the module. NI-SWITCH handles the
complexissues of direct memory access, interrupts, and operating system
interfacingfor you. All you need to do is make high-level calls to these
functions from your ADE.
One of my modules doesn’t switchproperly anymore. What’swrong?
One oft he relaysmay have worn out. Relays are mechanical devices and
havea limited switching lifetime. Call National Instr uments for
information onr eplacing yourrelays.
