DC direct current
DDS direct digital synthesis—a method of creating a clock with a programmable
frequency.
E
EEPROM electrically erasable programmable read-only memory—ROM that can be
erased with an electrical signal and reprogrammed.
ESD electrostatic discharge
F
frequency The basic unit of rate, measured in events or oscillations per second using
a frequency counter or spectrum analyzer. Frequency is the reciprocal of
the period of a signal.
frequency tuning word A number that specifies the frequency.
front panel The physical front panel of an instrument or other hardware .
H
Hz hertz—the number of scans read or updates written per second.
I
in. inch or inches
J
jitter The rapid variation of a clock or sampling frequency from an ideal constant
frequency.
