Using Subject Tracking

Rotate the mode dial to A, B, C, D or i Mdbutton MA, B, C, D or

itab (A9) MAF area mode

1Use the multi selector HIto select sSubject tracking, and press the kbutton.

Press the dbutton after changing the settings and return to the shooting screen.

2Register a subject.

Align the subject that you want to track with the border in the center of the monitor and press the kbutton.

When the subject is registered, a yellow border (focus area) is displayed around that subject and the camera begins tracking that subject.

If the subject cannot be registered, the border glows red. Change the composition and try registering the subject again.

To cancel subject registration, press the k button.

If the camera can no longer track the registered subject, the focus area disappears. Register the subject again.

3Press the shutter-release button fully to take the picture.

If the shutter-release button is pressed while

the focus area is not displayed, the camera focuses on the area in the center of the frame.

B Notes About Subject Tracking

If you perform operations such as zooming while the camera is tracking the subject, the registration is canceled.

Subject tracking may not be possible in certain shooting conditions.
