Raising the Flash

When you press the shutter-release button halfway, the flash will automatically pop up if the conditions required for flash photography are met.

Auto flash (Uauto, Vauto

with red-eye reduction, or Y

slow sync): If the lighting is dim, the flash automatically pops up when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. The camera determines whether or not the flash

pops up based on the brightness of the subject and the settings used during shooting.

Woff: The flash does not pop up, even when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. The camera can shoot images with the flash lowered.

Vred-eye reduction, Xfill flash/standard flash: The flash pops up when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway during shooting.

Lowering the Flash

When not using the flash, gently push to lower the flash until it clicks shut.
