Noise Reduction

At slow shutter speeds, “noise” in the form of ran- domly-spaced, brightly-colored pixels may appear in pictures, particularly in shadows. Noise reduction can be used to reduce noise at shutter speeds slower than ¼ s.

Manual background Restrictions on Noise Reduction

Noise reduction can not be used in combination with BSS (Manual background 91), exposure BSS (Manual background 91), exposure or white-balance bracketing (Manual background 107), or at Continuous settings other than Single (Manual background 88).

Manual background Sensitivity (ISO Equivalency)

Noise reduction will reduce the noise that occurs at higher sensitivities (Manual background 52), but only in pictures taken at shutter speeds slower than ¼ s.

When noise reduction is on, an NR icon appears in the shoot- ing display.
