Step 2 Frame a Picture

1Hold the camera steady.

Keep fingers, hair, the camera strap, and other objects away from the lens, flash, AF assist-illuminator (L26 only), and microphone.

When taking pictures in portrait (“tall”) orientation, turn the

camera so that the flash is above the lens.

2 Frame the picture.

The Basics of Shooting

When the camera determines the scene mode, the shooting mode icon will change (A 34).

When the camera detects a human face, that face is framed by a yellow double border (focus area).

When shooting non-human subjects or when no faces are detected, the camera focuses on the subject in the center of the frame. Position the main subject near the center of the frame.
