Subject Tracking Mode (Focusing on a Moving Subject)

Use this mode to focus on a subject that is moving when taking pictures.

Enter shooting mode MA(shooting mode) button MsSubject tracking mode (A24-25)

When you register a subject, subject tracking begins and the focus area automatically follows the subject.

1Register a subject.

When taking pictures of people:

Face priority tracking (A 53) can be used to detect a human face and then automatically register that person as the subject to be tracked.

If the subject is not registered automatically, align the subject that you want to register with the white border in the center of the monitor and press the kbutton.

When taking pictures of non-human subjects: Align the subject that you want to register with the white border in the center of the monitor and press the k button.

If a person visible in the frame was automatically registered, set Face priority tracking to Off and register the desired subject again.

Shooting Features

When the camera is unable to focus on the subject, the border will glow red. Change the composition and try registering the subject again.

When the subject is registered, a yellow border (focus area) is displayed around that subject and the camera begins tracking that subject.

To cancel subject registration, press the kbutton.

If the camera cannot track the registered subject anymore, the focus area will disappear and the registration will be canceled. Register the subject again.

2Press the shutter-release button to take a picture.

The camera focuses on the focus area when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. The focus area will glow green and focus will be locked.

Press the shutter-release button all the way down to release the shutter.
