P and M Modes

P (Programmed Auto) Mode

The camera automatically sets shutter speed and aperture.

Adjust shooting menu settings such as white balance and ISO sensitivity, as well as the continuous shooting mode.

1Rotate the mode dial

to P.

2Adjust settings to suit the subject or your creative intent.

Press d and adjust shooting menu settings (A75).

Adjust the flash mode (A28), self-timer (A30), focus mode (A31), and exposure compensation (A32) settings.

3Frame the subject and take the picture.

When a face looking toward the camera is recognized, the camera will focus on the face surrounded by a double border by default.

When taking pictures of subjects other than people, or framing a subject with which no face is recognized, the camera automatically selects the focus area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the camera.
