6Frame the subject and take the picture.

When a face looking toward the camera is recognized, the camera will focus on the face surrounded by a double border by default.

When taking pictures of subjects other than people, or framing a subject with which no face is recognized, the camera automatically selects the focus area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the camera.

See AF area mode (A86) and “Shooting with Face-Priority” (A87) for more information about face priority.

BNotes on Slow Shutter Speed

At shutter speeds slower than 1/4 s, noise reduction is automatically performed, except when Continuous, BSS, or Multi-shot 16 is selected for Continuous, increasing the time required to save pictures.

When shooting poorly-lit subjects with Continuous, BSS, or Multi-shot 16 selected, slower shutter speeds may not be available.
