Using the level sync function

Using the level sync function

During analog recording, the track numbers are assigned automatically since the level sync function is turned on. Even so, you can press the oREC (or the remote controller oREC button) to assign the track numbers manually. To disable the automatic assignment of track numbers during recording, turn off the level sync function.

Turn off the level sync function and assign the track numbers manually, if the numbers are not automatically updated due to the situations as follows:

For analog recording

The level sync function uses the recording source level to detect the end and beginning of tracks. Therefore, in the cases given below, the track numbers may not be properly assigned.

The recording on the cassette tape is poor (e.g., the space between songs contains much noise).

With music such as classical music where there may be very low volumes.

Where the space between songs is extremely short.

If the signal at the tuner is weak (excessive noise).

When recording from turntables.

For digital recording

When digitally recording satellite broadcasts, the track numbers may not be assigned properly. If this occurs, turn off the level sync function and set the track numbers manually (see page 21).

If the time between tracks is extremely short, the track numbers may not be assigned properly.
