Macro Mode

Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 3 cm (1.2 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft. 8 in.).

1 Press the rotary multi selector p(macro mode).

The macro mode menu is displayed.

2Use the rotary multi selector to choose ON

and press the kbutton.

The macro mode icon (F) is displayed.

If a setting is not applied by pressing the kbutton within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.

3 Rotate the zoom control to frame the picture.

The closest distance at which the camera can focus varies depending on the zoom position.

The camera can focus on subjects as close as 3 cm (1.2 in.) to the lens when the zoom indicator is positioned to the left of G, and Fand the zoom indicator glow green.

When the zoom indicator is aligned with G, the camera can focus at a distance of 4 cm (1.6 in.).

CAutofocus

When using A(auto) mode, if Autofocus mode (A48) is set to Full-time AF, the camera focuses continuously until focus is locked when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Therefore, the sound of lens drive movement can be heard.

When using other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro mode is turned on.

The macro mode setting applied in A(auto) mode is stored in the camera’s memory even after the

 

camera is turned off, and reapplied the next time A(auto) mode is selected.
