9-4. Trouble Diagnosis of Fan Motor

9-4-1. Indoor Fan Motor

This indoor DC fan motor contains an internal control PCB. Therefore, it is not possible to measure the coil resistance, and the following procedure should be used to check the motor.

To perform diagnosis, operate the unit in cooling mode with indoor fan speed "High". Next, make sure that the indoor unit receive the signals from the remote controller when the ON/OFF operation button is pressed.

Important: (A) Turn OFF the power before connecting or disconnecting the motor connectors.

(B)When performing voltage measurement at the indoor controller connector for (3) in the table below, the DC motor will trip and voltage output will stop approximately 1 minute after operation is started. For this reason, to measure the voltage again, turn OFF the unit once using the remote controller, and then start the air conditioner again.

[Trouble symptom 1] The fan does not stop when the unit stops. Indoor unit controller trouble.

[Trouble symptom 2] The fan motor does not rotate when the unit is operating.

(Diagnostic procedure)

*Disconnect the motor connectors and measure the voltage at the DC motor connectors on the indoor unit controller (3 locations).

(1) Vm-Gnd: Between pin 1 and pin 3

DC 130V to 195V

DC 280V to 340V

(2) Vcc-Gnd: Between pin 4 and pin 3

DC 15V +/- 10%

(3) Vs-Gnd: Between pin 5 and pin 3

Fluctuation between DC 1.8V to 5.7V

(Diagnostic results)

All of the above measured values are normal. Fan motor trouble (Replace the motor.)

Any one of the above measured values is not normal. Indoor unit controller trouble (Replace the controller .)

[Trouble symptom 3] Motor rotates for some time (several seconds), but then quickly stops, when the indoor unit operates.

(There is trouble in the system that provides feedback of motor rotation speed from the motor to the indoor unit controller.)

[Trouble symptom 4] Fan motor rotation speed does not change during indoor unit operation.

[Trouble symptom 5] Fan motor rotation speed varies excessively during indoor unit operation.

(Remedy for symptom 3 to 5)

It is not possible to identify whether the trouble is indoor unit controller trouble or motor trouble. Therefore, first replace the indoor unit controller, then (if necessary) replace the DC motor.

CZ-18BT1U, CS-KE12NB41, CS-KE18NB4UW, CU-KE18NKU, CU-KE12NK1 specifications

The Panasonic CS-KE18NB4UW and CU-KE12NK1, along with the CS-KE12NB41, CZ-18BT1U, and CU-KE18NKU, represent a suite of advanced air conditioning solutions built with cutting-edge technologies designed to provide optimal comfort, energy efficiency, and air quality in various settings.

One of the standout features of this lineup is the inverter technology. Inverter air conditioners adjust the compressor speed to maintain the desired temperature efficiently. This leads to significant energy savings compared to traditional air conditioners, which tend to frequently cycle on and off, consuming more power. By continuously regulating the temperature, the Panasonic units not only save electricity but also prolong the lifespan of the compressor.

Another noteworthy characteristic is the nanoe™ technology integrated into some of these models. Nanoe™ technology uses hydroxyl radicals to purify the air, minimizing harmful bacteria and allergens. This makes the Panasonic units particularly suitable for users with allergies or respiratory issues, providing a cleaner and healthier indoor environment.

In terms of design, these models are sleek and compact, allowing them to fit seamlessly into any room decor, whether in a home, office, or commercial space. The quiet operation is another advantage, making them ideal for bedrooms and study areas where minimal noise is essential.

Furthermore, the CS-KE18NB4UW and CU-KE12NK1 offer a range of powerful cooling and heating capacities, making them versatile solutions for various climate conditions. The cold climate performance ensures consistent heating in colder regions, while the robust cooling capabilities make them perfect for hot summer months.

The user-friendly features include a smart remote control system, allowing users to adjust settings with ease from a distance. Some models are equipped with Wi-Fi capability, enabling integration with smart home systems for enhanced control and programmability.

In conclusion, the Panasonic CS-KE18NB4UW, CU-KE12NK1, CS-KE12NB41, CZ-18BT1U, and CU-KE18NKU air conditioning units exemplify innovation and efficiency. With their inverter technology, air purification features, compact designs, and smart functionalities, they stand out as ideal choices for maintaining comfortable and healthy indoor environments throughout the year.
