Fax – sending
Problem
The other party’s fax machine is busy or has run out of
recording paper. Try again.
The other party’s machine is not a facsimile. Check with
the other party.
The other party’s fax machine rings too many times. Send
a fax manually – dial the number, confirm the fax tone,
then press .
If your line has special telephone services such as call
waiting, the service may have been activated during fax
transmission. Connect the unit to a line that does not have
these services.
The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook.
Hang up the extension telephone and try again.
Try copying the document. If the copied image is clear,
there may be something wrong with the other party’s
machine.
The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 80).
Use the overseas transmission mode of feature #23 (p. 64).
Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number
(p. 19) or dial manually.
FAX START
Cause & Remedy
I cannot send documents.
The other party complains that
letters on their received
document are distorted or not
clear.
The other party complains that
dirty patterns or black lines
appear on their received
document.
I cannot make an international
fax call.
Fax – receiving
Problem
The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the
TAD/FAX, FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode (p. 40, 41).
The time taken to answer the call is too long. Decrease the
number of rings of features #06 (p. 63), #30 (p. 65) and
#78 (p. 68).
The greeting message is too long. Shorten the message
(p. 52).
The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode
to the TEL or TAD/FAX mode (p. 40, 41).
The other party sent a faint document. Ask them to send a
clearer copy of the document.
The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 80).
Cause & Remedy
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The display shows the
following message but faxes
are not received.
The recording image is faint.
