If the sprayer has been used p reviously, it must be prepar ed BEFORE EACH SUBSEQUENT USE.
WARNING
Read instructions below carefully for inspecting and preparing the sprayer.
Dam a ged or clogged e qui pme nt could re sult in leak s or uncont ro lled spr ay.
Leaks could result in injury to t he operator or bystanders from chemical exposure,
or cause damage to th e environmen t.

Important safety rules:

Power off. Make sure all po wer is OFF before cleaning, inspecting, or servicing the spray er.
Guards / shields. Make sure all guards and shields ar e replaced after servicing the sprayer.
Replacement parts. If a part needs replacement, on ly use parts that meet t he manufact urer’s
specifications. Rep lacem ent parts that do not meet specificat ions may result in a safety hazard
or poor ope r ation of the spra yer.
1. Ensure sprayer
attached En su re the spr ayer is se curel y at ta che d to th e towi ng vehi cl e .
2. Ensure tank
empty Ensure the spraye r has been thoroughl y flushed and drained of all residual
chemical from pri or uses.
3. Clean suction
strainer Clean the suction strainer of any chemical residue.
It is important to clean the suct ion strainer before each use to en sure it is not
clo gge d and t o pr event r esidual c hem ical f ro m cont a minat ing sp rayer c ontent s.
IMPORTANT: The strainer m ust be accessed by reach ing into the tank, so the
tank must be em pty to avoid immersing your hand in chemicals.
a) Open f ill cap on to p of t ank.
b) USING RUBBER GLOVES, reach into the tank and pull the suct ion
strainer off the end of the suction tube. (See figure below.)
c) Run the suction strainer under fresh water to remove debris.
d) Replace the suction strainer onto the end of the suction tube.
4. Inspect &
repair Ins pect a nd test the s praye r th oroughl y:
a) Inspect hoses for exposed mesh and holes. Replace all worn or damaged hoses.
b) Inspect tank and fittings for cracks and leaks. Replace all damaged fitt ings with
original NorthStar parts.
c) Che c k to be s ur e all other n uts, bo lts, a nd scr ews are tight .
d) Check wheels and tires. Make sure wheel lugs are t ight and tires are inflated.
e) Partially fill tank with plain water and spray to test for leaks. Repair as needed.
IMPORTAN T : After any re pair work has b een done, AL W AYS test for l eak s
with water one final time before using.
