Difference from the appropriate exposure

The shutter speed and aperture value

are displayed on the viewfinder and the LCD panel. Of the shutter speed and aperture, the value being adjusted is

underlined in the viewfinder. While adjusting the shutter speed or aperture value, the difference with the

appropriate exposure (EV value) appears at the bottom right of the viewfinder. The appropriate exposure is when [0.0] is displayed.

• Blinks when the difference with appropriate exposure is over ±3.0.

Set the shutter speed and aperture values in increments of 1/2EV or 1/3EV. Set in [Expsr Setting Steps] in the [ACustom] menu. (p.142)

Set the aperture to the s position while holding down the auto-lock button when using a lens with an aperture ring.

Exposure Warning

You are out of the measuring area if the shutter speed and aperture blink.

Use an ND (Neutral Density) filter if the subject is too bright.

Use a flash if it is too dark.

About the LButton

The aperture and shutter speed are automatically adjusted to the appropriate exposure at that moment if the Lbutton is pressed in a (Manual) mode.

Shutter speed is adjusted to appropriate exposure according to lens aperture when lens aperture is not set to s position.
