better the video disp lay but the higher the
load on the processor.
You can use the scroll open menu to set
the frame rate of the vid eo that you wish to
capture. For example , 30 fps means that the
webcam will capture vid eo at 30 frames per
second.
[Auto Exposure]
The exposure is the amou nt of light received
by the sensor and is determ ined by how long
the sensor is exposed to capt ure a snapshot
or video frame. The r esult depends on the
sensitivity of the se nsor. The webcam will  nd
the optimal setting if you s elect the automatic
exposure option.
[Shutter Speed]
The shutter speed d etermines how long the
camera shutter r emains open as a pictu re
is taken. The slower the shu tter speed, the
longer the exposure tim e. The shutter spee d
controls the total amoun t of light reaching the
sensor.
Use the slider to set the desi red shutter
speed.
[Gain]
In video, gain is the amoun t of white in a video
picture. Use the slid er to set the desired gain
level.
[Reset]
Press this button if you wou ld like to reset
the webcam settings to t he default factor y
settings.
[Restore]
Press this button if you wou ld like to restore
your preferred sett ings.
[Save]
Press this button if you wou ld like to save your
preferred setti ngs.
[Auto White Balance]
Most light sources are not 10 0% pure white
but have a certain ‘colo r temperature’.
Normally our eyes compensa te for lighting
conditions with dif ferent color temper atures.
If the automatic white ba lance is selected,
the webcam will look for a refer ence point
which represents wh ite. It will then calcu late

On the [Video] tab, you can now adju st the
following settings:
[Full automatic control]
This full automatic cont rol mode provides
a very easy way to get the bes t out of your
Philips SPZ5000 webc am. Or you can choose
to have maximum manual cont rol over the
webcam settings by swi tching the full automatic
control mode off. Full au tomatic control ‘on’ is
the preferred set ting for normal use.
Techniques active within f ull automatic control
mode are:
Automatic exposure con trol and •
automatic white balan ce control, to
provide the best video s ource signal
possible;
Automatic frame ra te selection for •
improved webcam sensitiv ity in low
light conditions.
