Precautions before
installation
WARNING
Pioneerdoes not recommend that you install
orservice your navigation system yourself.
Installingor servicing the product may ex-
poseyou to riskof electric shock orother ha-
zards.Refer all installation and servicing of
yournavigation system to authorized
Pioneerservice personnel.
CAUTION
!Neverinstall this product in places where,
orin a manner that:
Itcould injure the driver or passengers
ifthe vehicle stops suddenly.
Itmay interfere with the drivers opera-
tionof the vehicle, such as on the floor
infront of the drivers seat, orclose to
thesteering wheel or shift lever.
!Makesure there is nothing behind the
dashboardor paneling when drilling holes
inthem. Be careful not to damage fuel
lines,brake lines, electronic components,
communicationwires or power cables.
!Whenusing screws, do not allow them to
comeinto contact with any electrical lead.
Vibrationmay damage wires or insulation,
leadingto a short circuit or other damage
tothe vehicle.
!Toensure proper installation, use the sup-
pliedparts in the manner specified. If any
partsother than the supplied ones are
used,they may damage internal parts of
thisproduct or they may work loose and
theproduct may become detached.
!Itis extremely dangerous to allow the
cablesto become wound around the steer-
ingcolumn or shift lever. Be sure to install
thisproduct, its cables, and wiring away
insuch a way that they will not obstruct
orhinder driving.
!Makesure that leads cannot get caught in
adoor or the sliding mechanism of a seat,
resultingin a short circuit.
!Pleaseconfirm the proper function of
yourvehicles other equipment following
installationof the navigation system.
!Certaingovernment laws may prohibit or
restrictthe placement and use of this sys-
temin your vehicle. Please comply with
allapplicable laws and regulations re-
gardingthe use, installation and operation
ofyour navigation system.
!Donot install this navigation system
whereit may (i) obstruct the driver s vi-
sion,(ii) impair the performance of any of
thevehicles operating systems or safety
features,including airbags, hazard lamp
buttonsor (iii) impair the drivers ability
tosafely operate the vehicle.
!Installthe navigation system between the
driversseat and front passenger seat so
thatit will not be hit by thedriver or pas-
sengerif the vehicle stops quickly.
!Neverinstall the navigation system in
frontof or next to the place in the dash,
door,or pillar from which one of your vehi-
clesairbags would deploy. Please refer to
yourvehicles owners manual for refer-
enceto the deployment area of the frontal
airbags.
!Donot install the navigation system in a
placewhere it will impair the performance
ofany of the vehicles operating systems,
includingairbags and headrests.
Toguard againstelectromagnetic interference

Inorder to prevent interference, set the follow-

ingitems as far as possible from this naviga-

tionsystem, other cables or leads:

!TVantenna and antennalead

!FM,AM antenna and its lead
