WAVfiles and audio data (CD-DA) such as
CD-EXTRAand MIXED-MODE CDs, both
typescan be played only by switching
modebetween MP3/WMA/AAC/WAVand
CD-DA.
!Thefolder selection sequence for playback
andother operations becomes the writing
sequenceused by the writing software. For
thisreason, the expected sequence at the
timeof playback may not coincide with the
actualplayback sequence. However, there
alsois some writing software which per-
mitssetting of the playback order.
!Someaudio CDs contain tracks that merge
intoone another without a pause. When
thesediscs are converted to MP3/WMA/
AAC/WAVfiles and burned to a CD-R/CD-
RW/CD-ROM,the files will be played back
onthis player with a short pause between
eachone, regardless of the length of the
pausebetween tracks on the original audio
CD.

!Whennaming an MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV file,
addthe corresponding filename extension
(.mp3,.wma, .m4aor .wav).
!Thisunit plays back files with the filename ex-
tension(.mp3, .wma,m4a or .wav) asan MP3/
WMA/AAC/WAVfile. To prevent noise and
malfunctions,do not use these extensions for
filesother than MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV files.

!Filesare compatible with the ID3 Tag Ver.
1.0,1.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 formats for display
ofalbum (disc title), track (track title), artist
(trackartist) and comments. Ver. 2.x of ID3
Tagis given priority when both Ver.1.x and
Ver.2.x exist.
!Theemphasis function is valid only when
MP3files of 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz frequen-
ciesare played back. (16, 22.05, 24, 32,
44.1,48 kHz sampling frequencies can be
playedback.)
!Thereis no m3u playlist compatibility.
!Thereis no compatibility with the MP3i
(MP3interactive) or mp3 PRO formats.
!Thesound quality of MP3 files generally be-
comesbetter with an increased bit rate.
Thisunit can play recordings with bit rates
from8 kbps to 320 kbps, but in order to be
ableto enjoy sound of a certain quality, we
recommendusing only discs recorded with
abit rate of at least 128 kbps.
WMA additional information
!Thisunit plays back WMA files encoded by
WindowsMedia Player version7, 7.1,8 and
9.
!Youcan only play back WMA files in the fre-
quencies32, 44.1 and 48 kHz.
!Thesound quality of WMA files generally
becomesbetter with an increased bit rate.
Thisunit can play recordings with bit rates
from48 kbps to 320 kbps (CBR) or from 48
kbpsto 384 kbps (VBR), but in order to be
ableto enjoy sound of a certain quality, we
recommendusing discs recorded with a
higherbit rate.
