6. Selecta display mode and follow your progress
withthe exercise information on the screen.
Whilethe television is turned off, you can select
eitherof two display modes; the screen can display
the trackand some exercise information, or the
screencan display all the exercise information.
Whilethe television is turned on, you can select
any ofthree display modes; exercise information
can bedisplayed at the bottom of the screen or on
the rightside of the screen, or the information can
be turnedoff while you watch the television. Press
the Displaybutton repeatedly to select the desired
displaymode.
As youwalk or run on the treadmill, the screen can
displaythe following exercise information:
Theelapsed time. Note: When a program is se-
lected, the screen will show the time remaining
in the program instead of the elapsed time.
Thedistance that you have walked or run.
Thespeed of the walking belt.
Theapproximate number of calories you have
burned.
Theincline setting of the treadmill. Note: The in-
clinesetting of the treadmill will be displayed only
whenyou press Incline buttons.
Theapproximate number of grams of carbohy-
dratesyou have burned.
Yourheart rate. Note: Your heart rate will be dis-
playedonly when you use the handgrip pulse
sensoror the optional chest pulse sensor (see
step7).
Whenthe manual mode is selected, the screen
can showa track that represents 1/4 mile (400
meters).As you walk or run on the treadmill, seg-
mentsof the track will appear in succession until
the entiretrack appears. The track will then dis-
appearand the segments will again begin to ap-
pearin succession.
To reset the console, press the Stop button, re-
move the key,and then reinsert the key.
7. Measure your heart rate if desired.
Note: If you use the handgrip pulse sensor and
the optional chest pulse sensor at the same
time, the display will not show your heart rate
accurately. See page 26 for information on the
optional chest pulse sensor.
To use the
handgrip pulse
sensor, first re-
move the
sheets of clear
plastic from
the metal con-
tacts on the
handgrip pulse
sensor. Next,
stand on the foot rails and hold the metal con-
tacts—avoid moving your hands. When your
pulse is detected, your heart rate will appear on the
screen. For the most accurate heart rate read-
ing, continue to hold the contacts for about 15
seconds.
8. Turn on the fan if desired.
The fan features high, low, and auto speed set-
tings. Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a
fan speed or to turn off the fan. When the auto
mode is selected, the speed of the fan will auto-
matically increase and decrease as the speed of
the walking belt increases and decreases. Note: If
the fan is on when the walking belt is stopped, the
fan will turn off automatically after a few minutes.
The auto mode can only be selected while the
walking belt is moving.
9. When you are finished exercising, remove the
key from the console.
Steponto the foot rails,press the Stop button,and
adjustthe inclineof thetreadmill tothe lowest
setting.The inclinemust beat thelowest setting
whenyou foldthe treadmillto thestorage posi-
tion,or youmay damagethe treadmill.Next, re-
movethe key from the consoleand put it in a secure
place.
Whenyou are finished using the treadmill, switch
thereset/off circuit breaker to the off position and
unplugthe power cord. IMPORTANT: If you do
not dothis, the treadmillʼs electrical compo-
nentsmay wear prematurely.
