Recording a Meeting

To ensure that the comments of all participants are recorded consistently, place the R-05 in the center of the table. Set the [MIC GAIN] switch to H if you’re recording sounds that are at a typical conversational level.

If you turn AGC on, the level will be automatically adjusted according to the loudness of the speaker’s voice, ensuring that the recording will be consistent even for people with a softer voice or who are at a distance. However, turning on AGC (p. 48) will also boost faint low-frequency background sounds such as an operating air conditioner, capturing these unwanted sounds as well. If so, turn [LOW CUT] on to reduce the unwanted low-frequency noise while capturing the voices more clearly.

Since the purpose is to create a record of the comments by each participant, the audio quality of the recording is not of primary importance. Choose MP3 as the recording mode to keep the file size small even for an extended recording.
