◆Защита на съдържанието за записваеми носители (CPRM)

CPRM е механизъм, който свързва записването с медията, на която се записва. Това се поддържа от някои HDD и DVD РЕКОРДЕРИ, но не от много DVD плейъри. Всеки празен записваем DVD има уникално 64-битово медийно ID (име), гравирана

вBCA (кръглата централна част на диска). Когато защитеното съдържание се записва върху диска, то може да се кодира с 56-битов C2 (Cryptomeria) шифър, получен от ID на носителя.

По време на възпроизвеждане ID се чете от BCA и се използва за генериране на ключ за дешифриране на съдържанието на диска. Ако съдържанието на диска се копира на друг носител, ID ще липсва или ще е грешно и няма да може да се дешифрират данните.
