INSTALLING THE SPEEDSTREAM 2602
Before installing the SpeedStream 2602 DSL/Cable Router, verify that you have all the items listed under “Package Contents,” and that you have all the necessary cabling. If any of the items are missing or damaged, contact Technical Support (see Appendix A, “Troubleshooting”). After installing the SpeedStream 2602, refer to the subsequent chapters for additional instructions:
•Chapter 3, “Configuring the SpeedStream 2602” to configure the router settings.
•Chapter 4, “Installing and Configuring TCP/IP” to install and configure the TCP/IP protocol on network computers.

Description of Hardware
You can connect the SpeedStream 2602 DSL/Cable Router to the Internet or to a remote site using its RJ- 45 WAN port. You can connect it directly to your computer or to a local area network using either of the two Fast Ethernet LAN ports.
Access speed to the Internet depends on your service type.
You should note that the actual rate provided by specific service providers may vary dramatically from these upper limits. Although access speed to the Internet is determined by the service and type of modem connected to your SpeedStream 2602, data passing between devices connected to your local area network can run up to 100 Mbps over the Fast Ethernet ports.
The SpeedStream 2602 provides an LED display on the front panel for system power and port indicators, simplifying installation and network troubleshooting. It also provides two
