DTMF signalling
When a connection is set up, you can use the keypad to
transmit DTMF signals (tones in dual-tone multifrequency),
e.g. to control an answering machine remotely.
Keypad signalling
Instead of DTMF signalling, you can transmit keypad infor-
mation elements (IE) e.g. to activate features on PBXs or
certain ISDN services in several countries (page 33:
Signalling methods to control the ISDN services).
Since DTMF signalling is set by default for your telephone,
it must first be deactivated.
